In 2021 we launched our new four-year strategy, which sets out how we aim to increase our impact in addressing the biggest sustainability challenges of our time: from the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis to human rights and persistent poverty. And we welcomed eight new sustainability systems into the ISEAL community as our new membership structure took root, bringing in new sectors and new approaches to sustainability. 

We launched our updated Credibility Principles, which capture evolving stakeholder expectations, and address what credibility means for a wider range of market-based initiatives. And our global dialogue on jurisdictional and landscape approaches explored new ways of thinking about supply chain sustainability. 

ISEAL’s work on poverty alleviation went from strength to strength. New members joined the Global Living Wage Coalition, and we partnered with IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative on a new project that looks at how sustainability systems can strengthen measurement, verification and auditing to make living wages a reality. The Living Income Community of Practice was also incredibly active, engaging over 1,300 participants across 72 countries through workshops and webinars. 

Finally, the Evidensia website, which makes sustainability impacts research easily accessible, now holds more than 1,000 resources and had over 13,000 new users in 2021.
